The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
